In October 2017, LB Merton’s Planning Committee unanimously resolved to grant planning permission for a mixed use riverside wharf development in south west London.
City Planning undertook the pre-application discussions with the LB Merton to develop a successful scheme for the site. The design of the scheme evolved further through the Design Review Panel consultation process and public engagement with the local stakeholders.
The scheme proposed a six storey mixed use development with ground floor office accommodation and 24 residential units on the upper floors, including 4 x one-bedroom units, 16 x two-bedroom units and 4 x three-bedroom units. This included two on-site shared equity units.
In addition, the development will deliver a landscaped riverside walkway along the River Wandle and a financial contribution towards the construction of footbridge across the river. As such, the project will deliver significant improvements to the connectivity of the area and public realm for the local residents of Earlsfield.
