City Planning was instructed by The James Laurence Group Ltd to obtain planning permission to redevelop the existing site to provide a mixed use development including ten residential flats and a retail unit on the ground floor. The project involved working alongside Claridge Architects to develop an appropriate scheme for the site.
Key issues included justifying the loss of commercial use, the scale and massing of the proposed building and ensuring the quality of accommodation was acceptable.
In addition to this, City Planning co-ordinated a team of external consultants who provided advice on transport and affordable housing.
The application was supported by Council members at committee and planning permission for the scheme was granted in 2016.
